For Such a Time as This…

by | Sep 22, 2020 | Discipleship, Kingdom of God

I feel compelled to put this reminder out there: ALL of the ills that encompass 2020 do not escape God’s omniscience and omnipotence. He is still all-knowing and all-powerful! So, the world should not be experiencing a bunch of prune-faced “Christians” filled with hopelessness and fear, succumbing to the temptation of isolation. May it never be! Instead, the world around us should be experiencing disciples who are kept by the same power that raised Christ from the dead. Disciples who exude hope, trust, and a willingness to infiltrate the darkness with the power of light. Disciples who are pressed by troubles, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; knocked down, but not destroyed. Our witness should exclaim, in word and deed, the death and life of Jesus, whose grace is sufficient and whose power is made perfect in our weakness. Our call is always to engage and persevere until…the…end. But if we are not mindful, the ills of 2020 will sideline us and we’ll become ineffective. We will fall prey to doubting God’s word and goodness and could give way to discouragement over the vastness of our problems. We could start desiring evil things, delay the call to obedience, and feel so defeated to the point that we don’t even try. The book of Jude ends with a powerful doxology that needs to serve as our mantra…”Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.” We have been called for such a time as this. God is still advancing His Kingdom and He will accomplish his purposes…with or without our cooperation. The question is, will you join Him? I sure hope you will because neglecting the call won’t magically dissipate the ills of 2020. But if you will join, the miraculous can occur, beauty can arise from these ashes! Don’t you want to hear “well done” instead of “what have you done??”
