Will You Make Time for “the one”?

What if each day you asked God to show you the one? The one woman He wanted you to interact with that day – whether through a smile, hug, a kind word, text, phone call or gesture? You could be Jesus in disguise to the people around you. To be ready for the one, you have to be in tune with God’s Spirit within you, which requires that you make an appointment with God every day and keep it. What I mean by make an appointment with God is that you must read the actual Bible, pray and cultivate a relationship with the King of the world. This is the only way to grow and mature in Christ so that we can become laborers, which are already too few, in the harvest that He said is plentiful. In John 15, Jesus tells us the key to being a disciple who can contribute to making disciples: Abiding. He says, “apart from me you can do nothing,” but if “you abide in me, you will bear much fruit.” Which means that as followers of Christ we are without excuse for doing the one thing Jesus has called us to do. We don’t stop doing that one thing because of temperament or season of life or covid-19 or kids going back to school. In Matthew 28: 18-20, Jesus left us with only one thing to do – go make disciples. We have to make sure everything else we do doesn’t get in the way of doing the one thing He has commanded us to do. While discipleship looks different for everyone, it starts the same way for each one of us, we have to notice people and be intentional. So, notice the people around you and listen to the Spirit within you. Spend time with God today asking him to show you the one He wants you to interact with as you go about your day and then do the same thing the next day and the next day and the next day until you breathe your last breath. God is faithful. So, as you go to work, grocery shopping, and run around doing life, ask God to show you the one, and then do what He asks you to do when He shows you.
